Product Description:

Life is reasonably rosy for plus-size ex-pop star turned Assistant Dormitory Director and sometime sleuth Heather Wells. Her freeloading ex-con dad is finally moving out. She still yearns for her hot landlord, Cooper Cartwright, but her relationship with 'rebound beau,' vigorous vegan math professor Tad Tocco, is more than satisfactory. Best of all, nobody has died lately in 'Death Dorm,' the aptly nicknamed student residence that Heather assistant-directs. Of course every silver lining ultimately has some grey cloud attached. And when the latest murdered corpse to clutter up her jurisdiction turns out to be her exceedingly unlovable boss, Heather finds herself on the shortlist of prime suspects—along with the rabble-rousing boyfriend of her high-strung student assistant and an indecently handsome young campus minister who's been accused of taking liberties with certain girls' choir members.

With fame beckoning her back into show business (as the star of a new kids' show!) it's a really bad time to get wrapped up in another homicide. Plus Tad's been working himself up to ask her a Big Question, which Heather's not sure she has an answer for . . .

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Too neat an ending
This book was a very quick read. However it was probably my least favorite of the three.

While Heather is up to her usual shenanigans, it really doesn't heat up till the end of the book (the last 1/4 or so). Maybe this was because I didn't get into Tad and their relationship, maybe because Cooper doesn't have such a large role or maybe because it was all very breif. Gavin however still makes me giggle like a school girl( a reminder of my miss spent youth?)

One of the story lines start at the beginning when Heather is running (yes running) and she says "Also, I think I felt something come loose back there. I'm not trying to overact or anything, but I think it was my uterus. Honest. I think my uterus jiggled free". And while the inital line is a bit out of the blue (I don't even know what she means by this), it did make me giggle everytime it was mentioned along the way, sometimes once again out of the blue.

From the ending of the book I think it will be the last of the Heather Wells series and for me it just finished a little bit "tidy". I mean really they only kissed and are talking about eloping - don't really see it occuring with his personality

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Could have been better.
I was a little disappointed in this book. Everything in the end of the book happened too neatly and quickly. The very first 2 books were much better.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Fluffy and fun with a strange ending!
I bought the omnibus (such a weird word that...makes me think of a really big bus) of the very first two books for $5.00 at a book sale figuring it would be good light and fluffy reading for a long haul plane journey and it was! I'm not a big fan of "chick lit" and technically these books don't fall into that genre, but they are certainly light and fluffy, with a mystery twist. Heather Wells is an ex-pop star (think a flash in the pan teen pop tart who sang in shopping malls a lot) whose label and boyfriend dropped her when she said she wanted to sing her own songs and her Mom ran off to Argentina with all her money. Heather is endearing, and I really enjoyed reading about a girl who battles weight issues and isn't afraid to order double whipped cream on her coffee. I also admit that I stayed with the books mainly because of Heather's sexy yet distant room mate Cooper. Anyway, I had to leave the omnibus in Scotland as a donation to the library at the Cathedral of the Isles as it was just too heavy to bring home. When I got back I checked into whether or not there were any other Heather Wells books and found "Size Doesn't Matter" (aka "Big Boned" in the USA. I have never understood why publishers change titles from country to country. Did you know that the book entitled "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in the USA is actually titled "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in the UK and Australia? Why?).

Anyway, I finished up "Size Doesn't Matter" this morning. It was probably the weakest of the three books and the ending was sort of bizarre. Without giving too much away, I would have settled for a kiss between Cooper and Heather, instead of the whole enchilada. I half expected to read "And then Heather woke up" it was all so picture perfect and out of place. Anyway, I read on Meg Cabot's official website there will be 2 more Heather Wells books subsequent year so we'll see what happens. I don't know that I'd rush out and buy them in hardcover, but I'd definitely pick them up at the library.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Solid Third Title
A solid conclusion (?) to the Heather Wells mystery series. A strong mystery, a nice romance, and lots of humor.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Is Big Boned The End
Heather Wells, former teen pop star, is loving life. It is spring, she is taking her very first college class, she is dating a hot blond Adonis (who happens to be her math professor) and her former convict dad is moving out of the house. Her landlord and dream lover, Cooper, won't date her but what does that matter she has a boyfriend (aka blond Adonis math professor), a boyfriend that is determined to help her with her physical issues. According to him she is not over weight she is just big boned and need to tone up. Now all she has to do is figure out what this big question he has for her is and everything would be perfect. New York College on the other had is in a bit of chaos. The graduate students have unionized and are protesting their unfair treatment by New York College. And the the new resident director of Fischer Hall is straitlaced from head to toe. Thank God he is only temporary, being assigned to Fischer Hall to shape things up and help with the image of Death Dorm. As it turns out the new director is more temporary than everyone thought. Heather finds this out one morning when she opens up his office and finds him shot in the head. To make this situation even worst the police have arrested the head of the graduate student protest, who happens to be the love of Sarah, the graduate assistant for Fischer Hall's, life. What is Heather to do.

Big Boned is a fast paced addition to the Heather Wells Mystery Series by Meg Cabot. As in the very first two book murder serves as a back drop to the real story of the book the progression of Heather's life. Cabot actually spends less time on the murder in this book than she did on all three of the previous books. Heather continues to use her wit and spunky charm to manage life after pop stardom. A life filled with interesting characters whose lives touch Heather and Heather in turn makes them part of her life. Heather takes her wight issues in stride and is willing (if half heartedly) to get on the board with this getting toned thing. And what woman would not be when the idea is presented to her by a blond Adonis who has to take off his glasses when you get in the shower together so you are not even sure if he knows how your body really looks.

My only disappointment with this book was the ending. Cabot ties up so many loose ends at the end of the book you get the impression book 3 will be the end of the Heather Wells Mysteries. But never say never because there is definitely some room wiggle room if Cabot decides to pick up this character again. And romance fans don't worry the Cooper and Heather dynamic is continued in full force is book number 3.
