A very well detailed book on narcissist & how to deal with them. My counsler stongly suggested that I read this book in order to understand my mate who has strong narcissistic tendencies. Reading the book gave me greater insight into the behavior of narcissistics and helped me to understand the way they manipulate situations to get their own way.
I would suggest this book to anyone in a relationship where you are driving yourself to an early grave trying to meet their needs without it being recipocated in return.

Aside from the author's personal Xtian views, this is a good book on relationships. Most people want to love and be loved.
Narcissist do not. Every thing they are, everything they have and every thing they can get will be EXTRACTED from their source(s).
This book fails to acknowledge the totality of self destruction inflicted on victims by a narcissist.
If you don't care enough about your self (and children) to GET THE HELL AWAY, you absolutely need more help than any book can offer...get professional help.

The author of this book has a background with one of the most highly regarded Christian clinics, non-religious and using all of the hard-core Truth about How People Work.
I am a 60 year old Believer who has never done what people told me to do and only done what I heard from Father, and only that until He told me to do something else. I glean Truth from many sources and it all lines up as from the same Source. Truth is truth is truth.
Father has taught me the difference between false mercy (unsanctified mercy) in which we are following our own directions and feelings and from which no good results will come, and true Mercy (as Jesus lived) in which Wisdom, Truth, Love and what we call Boundaries were all present.
Thus said:
Redemption of our personal narcissist(s) is possible by our own behaviors and choices ONLY IF AND WHEN AND AS LONG AS our Father tells us to stay and work. We may not be the ones who get to enjoy a final good result, if indeed it is ever going to happen. The main thing is we ALL have 'stuff' to be weeded out, and if Father determines and leads, we must stay as long as He says (and ONLY that long) because He is working on weeding out those same kinds of things in us!
It is NEVER about the other person (the stick in their eye), but is ALWAYS about our own healing and growth (the log in our eye).
IF we are OBEDIENT, which in this situation means STAY AS LONG AS FATHER SAYS 'STAY', DO AND SPEAK WHAT HE SAYS TO DO AND SPEAK, AND LEAVE EXACTLY WHEN FATHER SAYS 'LEAVE', amazing things can happen. God-things.
WE ALSO HAVE TO LEARN THAT WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE CHOICES OF OTHERS!!!! WE ARE ONLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN CHOICES AND ACTIONS.
one thing more: it is necessary to read many books for a full understanding of what we are dealing with. No one book has it all. I recommend 'Emotional Vampires' highly.
