Pastoral Counseling with Special Populations IV. Pastoral Counseling the Devalued and Abused V. Problems, Challenges, and Opportunities in Working with Addictions VI. Special Challenges and Opportunities for Pastoral Counselors in the Third Millennium VII. This fine book is compendium of many articles on different subjects in Pastoral Counselling. Each article highlights the key elements of a topic. I have found it is great to have on the shelf when something I am not as familiar with happens. I have used it for ten years in the Pastoral Counselling class I teach and other than it is almost impossible to find some years I would not change the book in coming years

It provides some fundamental definitions/distinctions which are extremely important. The section on Pastoral Counseling and Maturity helps to give you an understanding of basic spirituality. Some areas were more of the same from counseling skills standpoint. But sections relating to the different ministries within pastoral counseling were very helpful by providing basic structure. Overall it is very comprehensive, prepares you for sessions, and give you a good historical base (theoritical and Spritual). It is worth purchasing it a good resource as well as just beginning.
