Editor's Notes and Comments:

Brief Book Summary:
Ten years ago a breakthrough book launched a ministry that has helped more than one million people overcome this world and win the battle for their hearts and minds. Now Neil Anderson has revised and expanded Victory over the Darkness for a new generation of readers, outlining practical and more productive ways to Christian growth based on Christ's promise: 'You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.' Victory Over the Darkness emphasizes the importance of believing and internalizing the cardinal truths of Scripture as a base from which to renew the mind and fend off Satan's relentless endeavor to convince us that we are less than Christ empowers us to be.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Spiritual Warfare
This is a foundational work for anyone interested in Christian Spiritual warfare. If you're self-image is in tatters or you feel like your spiritual life is being hindered by the enemy, this book will be helpful. It is well documented, integrates biblical scriptures and is very practical. The book is the result of the authors own battle with the enemy and how he is winning. The cover of the book is revealing: A hunched over man in a darker world walking out into the light and straightening up as he does so.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - The power of indentity
I really want to give this book more than three stars because it is a necessary corrective to many church's teachings that we are all wretched sinners. Anderson uses the scriptures to show us that this is not how God sees us. It is this false conception of ourselves which restrains our Christian growth. However after that good start, this book lacks the practical steps of how to build-up an accurate self-identity. Anderson makes it sound very simple - you simply choose to change your view of yourself and it happens. In reality, this is a process. There is no mention in this book of how fellowship in small groups or accountability partners can be a part of this process. Also, the chapters on unforgivness and marital relationships were off the topic.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - America needs
I wish more books like this would just make the number one NY sellers list. Americans need to read this type of material.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - "The truth will set you free"
I read The Bondage Breaker a few months ago, and I picked up this book after reading it. However, I decided to put it away and read it later on, in a time where I'd need some spiritual uplifting, revelation and/or affirmation. Well, that time was now, and after going through a rather difficult time, this book called out to me in the worst possible time in my life. Neil T. Anderson does with this book what he does with The Bondage Breaker, only that he covers all of the bases here to help you realize the powerful of your identity in Christ. The chapters are all very insightful and spot-on, and I felt as though this book had been written for me. The chapters centered on fear of rejection, freeing oneself from emotional and deep-rooted bondage, and letting our personal goals define our lives are the most important ones to me because they opened my eyes to so many things. I won't go into details about personal matters, but this is a wonderful book. It's not a substitute to the Bible, but rather it is a wonderful guide to understanding the scriptures better. If you're a Christian in need of spiritual growth, I recommend this wonderful book as well as The Bondage Breaker. I look forward to reading all of the follow-ups in this series.

If there is a fault in this book, it's that it is a little repetitious at times, because I had some of this same stuff in The Bondage Breaker. Other than that, I find no fault in this book. Anderson is a wonderful person, and God has used him to do extraordinary things. I hope I can do a fourth of what Mr. Anderson has done. I liked the tidbits about his life and family, when he used himself and his family as examples. A great, uplifting read. If you're a Christian in need of spiritual growth, I recommend this wonderful book as well as The Bondage Breaker. I look forward to reading all of the follow-ups in this series.
