Having worked with ADHD children and youth in schools, athletics, and the church, I found Simply Special to be a piercing reminder that psychological labels more often than not inflict wounds rather than renewed emotional health. The author, an "ADHD dyslexic", transparently and courageously shares his journey of rising above the stigma attached to his condition. His story of confusion to celebration is an easy read that possesses a profound simplicity. It is filled with real-life humor, insightful facts, practical challenges for ADDers and their families, and inspiration for aggressively engaging personal giants. It appears that Simply Special may be the beginning of a series by Mr. Glenn addressing other pertinent aspects of the ADDers world. I certainly hope so...for the sake of the millions like Mr. Glenn who have been misunderstood and the millions of ignorant ones like me who have failed to recognize ADHD as a potential blessing rather than an unfortunate, inherent curse. Plus, there are some great cartoons mingled through its pages.
