I agree with previous reviewers for the second edition of Surgery Q & A. This is an excellent tool to help you prepare for your shelf exam. You cannot use this book as your sole source of studying for the surgery shelf, but the topics covered are right on target.

I LOVED this book. The questions were fantastic and the size is perfect for stuffing in your pocket so you can do a question or two in those oh-so-rare free moments. While the book is not designed to be used as a sole source of studying for the exam, the 200 questions it contains are a good review to make sure you are hitting important information in whatever text you are using. And, the questions more closely resemble (in length and content) those found on the Surgery shelf exam than other review books such as PreTest and NMS.

I am a non-surgical medical student, and this was just what I needed and wanted! I thought it was a great question review. I actually got through it, unlike the other reviewer's suggested question books... If you like the blueprints series, I am sure you will like this accompanying question book, too. I didn't honor surgery, but I DID pass!!

This book contains an unacceptably large amount of mistakes- several of the answers given at the end of the book do not match up with the correct answer, which is made obvious by reading the explanations of each answer choice. For a subject as extensive as surgery, 100 questions just doesn't cut it if you're serious about making honors in your surgery rotation. Try Pretest, the NMS USMLE step 2 question book, and Brochert's Step 2 Mock Exam if you want some decent practice for the shelf exam. Two fat thumbs down.
