Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Not at all what I was looking for
I have two other books in the "five good minutes" series, including "evening" and "morning." Both are good for short, thought-filled breaks to make me more mindful of little pleasures, calm moments, or just to take a deep breath in a hectic life. I had hoped for similar material in this book, but designed for two people. I was very, very disappointed!

The book is broken out much like the others in the series, with short two -page mindfulness exercises. The ideas do, indeed, take just five minutes, but there are few exercises designed for two people. For example, there's "stars of compassion," that asks you to reflect on the concept of compassion, and think about a time when someone was compassionate toward you. Another exercise, "Look inside," has you think about what good or trouble you've caused today. Where's the "with the one you love" part come in??

There are a few exercises for two -- "hand in hand" has you compliment your partner, "work together" has you do just that - work together (dust, do yard work, make a bed". For the former, I already do that pretty much all the time, and for the latter -- if your partner hates housework (as mine does), this will NOT be quality time unless they always do this work and you're helping them get it done.

All in all, this book seems ideally suited for someone who is in a tumultuous relationship or who wants to bring a sense of gratitude, peace, and mutual respect to their interactions with their partner. It's geared toward letting go of grievances, focusing on the positive, and acknowledging daily gifts. This is not, however, a book to use WITH your partner, to enrich your communication and appreciation for each other.
