I have and enjoy this cookbook. When I purchased it, I was expecting it to be only recipes from that particular era.
However, the cookbook contains many recipes with ingredients that did not exist during the 30s. It's very unlikely that women of the depression era had acess to frozen bread dough or peanut butter chips, just to name a couple of the questionable ingredients in recipes allegedly from that era.
I know that my Grandmother would argue that those ingredients were not to be found during the 30s.
That said, there are many great recipes in this book. I searched through it the other day when I had 4 small peaches that needed to be used. I found a great old recipe for a peach cake made in a cast iron fry pan. The subsequent time I make that recipe, I will change the portion for carmelizing sugar. The recipe said to use crisco and brown sugar. I did and it was a gloppy mess. I would use butter and granulated sugar subsequent time. Otherwise, the cake baked in the cast iron fry pan turned out great. I've used one of the bread recipes and tried a few others. We've been pleased with the results, but seriously doubt that many of the recipes in the book are actually from the Depression Era.
Some may be adaptations of recipes from that time.
