Product Description:
Everyone loves a good ghost story. Perhaps the human fascination with the supernatural stems from the fact that most of us, at some point in our lives, have experienced something we couldn't quite explain. From a very young age James Van Praagh was aware of a dimension that most of us cannot see, and he has dedicated his life to explaining it to the rest of us. Ghosts Among Us takes us on an incredible journey into the spirit world that brings to light one of our greatest mysteries—what happens to us after we die?
Van Praagh, the New York Times bestselling author and co-executive producer of the CBS series The Ghost Whisperer, shares his knowledge and life experience about ghosts, a subject that can seem to many of us both bizarre and terrifying. But when the world beyond is explained fully by an experienced guide, dismissal and apprehension can be turned into knowledge and inspiration. With incredible true ghost stories and surprising details about how ghosts actively participate in our lives, Van Praagh challenges us to question our perceptions and shows us how we can live more fully through understanding the world of spirits. Including eerily accurate readings, the author's development as a medium, and detailed how-to information, Ghosts Among Us is an all-encompassing guide to the supernatural.

Brilliant book James, thank you. Easy to read and understand unlike the actual topic.

This book is very interesting and is worth reading if you believe in ghosts. James talks about common experiences that all people have right before death and relates them to his beliefs about the spirit world. I want to believe what he writes about, but once you watch his videos on you tube you'll see that he's a complete fake.

I am a bit skeptical about the subject even though I had strong experiences in my life , I think I am more skeptical about the people or the great amount of charlatans there are around the world talking about spirits. I can not denied there is a spiritual life in different forms that we can not see , as we do not see the air we breath every day but does exist. Mr. Van Praagh have a distinct approach about the spiritual subjects and a simple way to communicate his experiences and views to the reader and it seems somewhat honest to me , I like the book mainly because made me rethink about death , about our life and how we live, how the universe around us change and interact with us and is still the big mystery of human kind. To conclude I like the message conveyed in the book and how Mr. Van Praagh touched the lives of other people.

I have done some research in this area and still had questions about certain things.
This book has answered most of those questions.
This book is very well organized. It is easy to read.
I highly suggest this book to those who are interested in ghosts, spirits, and the afterlife.

I am not a paranormal expert, but I do enjoy reading and learning about all things in the genre, so this book by James Van Praagh appealed to me immediately. Having just finished it this afternoon, I find that while it was indeed entertaining, it was lacking a certain depth that I was hoping for.
Van Praagh is a rather well-known medium, and is also co-producer of the CBS tv series Ghost Whisperer. The stories of dealing with the dead in this book showcase people he has helped come to terms with loss and lingering loved ones who need help moving toward the Light. Those stories are intriguing and filled with heartfelt emotion, and even if I have a bit of skepticism at times, I feel that Van Praagh truly wants to give solace and aid to those with whom he works. It's when Van Praagh moves from the titular "Ghosts Among Us" to telling us how he views the spiritual world that I found my interest wavering. It's not that I disbelieve his theories, but to be honest, that's not why I picked up this book. I wanted to read more of the interactions with ghosts and the experiences of regular people who had gone to Van Praagh for guidance. I also must admit that my skepticism hit a healthy high when Van Praagh began mentioning Abraham Lincoln as one of his spirit guides (we should all be so lucky!). Maybe it's true, maybe it's not; it just came away as bragging and unlikely to me.
This is not to say that I didn't enjoy this book; Van Praagh seems sincere enough in most respects and I do feel he must have some sort of gift for speaking with the dead. I admit to skimming the bits about chahkras and energies, though I did find the idea of ridding myself of negative energy a worthwhile idea. I just was expecting something more, and that may make my disappointment with the book more my own than Van Praagh's. The idea of the book just seemed scattered to me; Van Praagh should have done two books, one about ghostly encounters and one about spiritual guidance...and yes, they are two separate ideas.
