Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
With the majority of the Neurofeedback field using Susan Othmer's symptom based -- client centered approach to neurofeedback, or other variations on the symptom based approach, there has been great demand for a book explaining her work. This new expanded edition of the Protocol Guide for Neurofeedback Clinicians presents Susan Othmer's latest thinking in a straight forward and easy to reference guide.

Over the last 20 years Susan Othmer has worked personally with thousands of clients at the EEG Institute in Woodland Hills CA. She has supervised hundreds of clinicians, psychologists and Medical Doctors and trained close to five thousand professionals in her method. From this experience she has developed not only a tremendous instinct for working with clients but also a model that allows clinicians to understand and follow this same set of guidelines in their own work.

The basis of Susan Othmer's work is that neurofeedback protocols can be carefully adjusted for each client to get maximal effectiveness. For any neurofeedback clinician who has seen a client fall out of the program due to lack of success, or negative results, it is clear that there is always more that we can do. There are always those clients who remain extremely hard to reach. But after 20 years of this work Sue has shown how to adjust the training to accommodate negative reactions, and non-reactions with much greater effectiveness.

Customer Reviews
User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Benchmark author summarizes important points
Experts in neurofeedback already know that Sue Othmer figuratively wrote the book on the practice. This quick reference is not a stand alone, but it beautifully summarizes the most important points of neurofeedback and provides a wonderful go-to for the practitioner who has had the full course. In addition, for the seasoned professional it allows a quick review of salient points. I like its format and the spiral "flipchart" design. Is $130 a lot? It is, but all-in-all, I'm glad I made the purchase.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Indispensable Neurofeedback Guide
Sue Othmer has long been regarded as the best teacher and clinician in her chosen field, Neurofeedback. This incredible woman has pushed the field forward yet again with her comprehensive, masterfully written Protocol Guide. This is an invaluable tool for clinicians who include EEG-Biofeedback in their practice. Easy to read and understand, the Protocol Guide helps clinicians think their way throught treatment approaches, electrode placement and reward band selection. Although it is written with the Neurofeedback Professional in mind, any interested layman will also find this Guide a fascinating read.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Invaluable Guide for Seasoned and Novice Neurofeedback Practitioners
As a neuropsychologist who was looking for a means of helping people beyond simply testing their brains and explaining why and how they weren't working well, I was drawn to EEG biofeedback. After researching the field, I decided that Sue and Siegfried Othmer's approach appeared to have the broadest application, and chose to study with them back in 1994. I was amazed and thrilled to find their methods can be applied to the vast majority of problems people bring to mental health practitioners. In this Protocol Guide you will find the distillment of Susan Othmer's elegant and parsimonious approach to assisting people in learning to improve their own brain's self-regulation, and watch as many previously "impossible" to treat disorders improve or simply vanish in the process. Sue's methods are logical and sequential, proceeding step by step. She explains where to start, what to observe, and how to adjust training results to maximize a client's response to training. Both seasoned and novice neurofeedback practitioners cannot fail to profit by her methods.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Ovations for Othmer Protocol Guide
A definite must-have reference for every client-centered neurotherapeutic clinician; perfection! Thank you Sue and Seigfried Othmer for this invaluable tool.
