Amazon.com Review:
Nutritionist Oz Garcia doesn't want to live forever; he just wants to have '80 to 90 fabulous years.' Garcia promises health, vitality, and productivity in later years with his 'High-Tech' health program. Garcia, author of The Balance, rests this program on five 'pillars': bioengineering, supernutrition, life extension/enhancement, beauty and fitness, and sexuality. His Paleotech Diet presumes that our bodies need our ancestors' hunter-gatherer diet rather than carbohydrate excesses and modern 'nufoods' devoid of nutrition. Garcia recommends a diet of lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, with moderate servings of whole grains low on the glycemic index. His 33 innovative recipes include Breakfast Leek and Onion Pizzas (on oatmeal-barley cakes, not pizza dough), Crab Bundles with Avocado-Ginger Sauce, and Buffalo (the animal, not the city) Chili. A CD-ROM with additional resources is included. Garcia recommends dozens of supplements that he claims will maximize health benefits, assist in weight loss, and control the diseases of aging. He also discusses the benefits of some controversial, injectable supplements and hormones, such as human growth hormone. In general, this book may leave you confused and overwhelmed, because Garcia recommends many changes--some easy, some complex. Be sure to consult with your physician before beginning any program of supplements. --Joan Price

I loved the book. As a novice to the field of mutrition and health I found his way of explaining very complicated concepts like cell therapy and growth hormone easy to understand. Besides taking my knowledge to a much higher level I tried some of the recipes and they were really great. It was the very first book on nutrition that I really found helpful.

This book truly is a global helath guide. The book clearly explains everything from the fundamentals of nutrtion to high tech health. Unlike I have ever seen anyone do before, the author Oz Garcia humbly defers to more than 20 other Doctors and experts in various fields. By doing this he puts together at your fingertips in one volume everything you could possibly want to know. the book is tartgeted to indiviuals who really want to take their nutrition and supplementation to the subsequent level, hence the title The Healthy High Tech Body. The book will teach you and take you to the frontiers of technology and science. It summarizes and explains in easily understandable terms cell therapy, growth hormone, neutraceuticals, injectables, detoxification and brain aging. This book is how we will take care of ourselves in the future based on cutting edge scientific research. There are tens of thousands of people that are currently taking advantage of these high tech therapies. this book will hopefully educate the masses to the potential that exists yesterday for everyone.

First of all, although a careless purchaser might assume that the author, Oz Garcia, is trained as a physician or scientist, he clearly is not. I was somewhat put off by the fact that places his disclaimer about his lack of medical training in small print on the flipside of the title page. The blurb describes him as a "nutritionist" and a "health authority," but according to what criteria?
Second, I get the impression that he is financially reimbursed somehow for recommending at least some of the companies selling the vitamins, "nutraceuticals," etc., he endorses. I have nothing against this in principle, but I would like to have seen this explicitly acknowledged.
Third, Garcia's recommendations assume that the health-conscious reader is flush with discretionary income and can afford to spend some open-ended amount of money every year towards his proposed "HighTech Body" goals. This is clearly unrealistic when millions of Americans lack even basic health insurance. I would have found his advice more practical if he had broken down his program into a range of affordability. For example, what could you do if you can afford to spend $1,000 extra a year on better health, what could you do for $5,000 a year, etc.
Although the book has some useful information, it smacks too much of marketing towards the super-affluent to be helpful to ordinary people.

I loved this book! Clearly written and well organized, it actually covers everything you need to know about health and fitness, from nutrition and fat burning to state-of-the-art life extension and enhancement techniques. The information comes not only from Oz Garcia, but from well-known fitness experts like Barry Sears and Pamela Peeke. I've learned a lot from this book, and find myself referring to it all the time.
