I have had the book of the same title for over a year however found the exercises very difficult to follow in a timely manner when trying to go by the book. The DVD was the perfect answer to my problem. It is very easy to follow along with David, he explains and demonstrates the exercises clearly. The scenery is beautiful and the time truly passes quite quickly. I warn you though, it is a very difficult workout but absolutely worth it. The changes you will see in your body in such a short amount of time are amazing. Don't give up, even if the very first few times you endeavor the DVD you are unable to complete it. Work up to it and you too will reap the benefits of having the body you have always wanted and have worked so hard to achieve. Best of luck!

I am very impressed with this DVD. It is very well choreographed and the exercises are very effective and challenging. Some of the exercises may be hard for beginners but the DVD has different segments and beginners can work their way up to the more challenging exercises. I definitely recommend this DVD and I think doing this DVD in addition to cardio will give great results.

Love, love this DVD, but I only give it 4 stars due to some of the "dangerous" exercises, i.e. crunches with clapping, fibre chopping and jumping jack jumps. I would not endeavor those moves without a certified trainer by my side, and even then, I would refuse.

After watching the DVD twice, I started on the fitness test and the pre-core section, plus I included the upper body and ab section. All in all, not difficult, but extremely fast paced and sweat inducing times.

Believe it or not, my motivation is going higher and higher, with a good outlook in life.

This is the best workout DVD I have seen. I have been doing it about 3 times a week for a month, and I am not tired of it. It is an extremely well-done DVD. The movements are done and explained at just the right speed and intensity. David motivates, without being too "fanatical" like some fitness guys. I am really amazed at how much I like the workout, and yet, I see immediate results. It is perfect.

It also really compliments the book very well, and I would highly recommend either just getting the DVD, or if you already have the book, get the DVD, because many of the exercises are easier to understand in the DVD. I think the DVD can stand alone, too. I really like this DVD, and the exercises are tough, but just right for me (I am 40 and about 15 pounds overweight, but work out often with weights, etc.). The DVD is easy to follow and the pacing is really just right. The locale is really nice, with the New York harbor in the background. Really great DVD.

Over the years I have done my share of different workout videos, David's stands out from the pack as one of the best!
The reason is structure, variety and results.

David's "Ultimate New York Body Plan" is a very structured program. Using the directions from his book in combination with the video, you will know how many days to do the full body workout, how many to do the upper body/core and how many to do a lower body workout. It would have been nice if directions on what to do and when to do it were included with the tape, but I guess they assume most people will buy the book also. Using the book's directions I follow the tape and workout exactly as he describes and it takes the guesswork out of how to be most effective with your workouts. The tape includes all the workouts you will need to do with the exception of cardio.

David's tape offers a nice variety of exercises using a medicine ball, fitness ball, mat if desired and small hand weights. With New York as the backdrop he gives clear directions and has enough variety to keep me interested without being overwhelming.

The tape offers a fitness test, preworkout (if you are not ready for the main workout) upper body/core and lower body. A cool down is included. Just pop it in and do the plan (from the book )

Results..I can feel the results already and it hasn't been that long. Another nice thing is the workout is doable. Yes its intense, but with modifications you can tone it down until you are ready.
