To take an accurate reading, very first position the purple marker directly over the artery on the inside of your arm.


Next, place your arm on a table so the cuff is positioned at the same level as your heart.
Instructions for Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitors
There are several easy steps to taking your blood pressure with this monitor. First of all, avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Remove tight-fitting clothing from your upper arm, and sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Slide your left arm through the cuff and position the cuff approximately 0.5-inches above the elbow. On the cuff you'll notice a purple marker; position this marker directly over the artery on the inside of your arm. Next, secure the cuff with the Velcro material. The cuff should make direct contact with your skin, but you should be able to easily fit your index finger between the cuff and your arm.

Place your arm on a table so that the cuff is positioned at the same level as your heart. Rest comfortably in a relaxed environment for at least 15 minutes prior to taking your blood pressure measurement. Once you feel relaxed, simply press the start button and remain still. The cuff will begin to inflate and numbers will appear on the display as the heart symbol flashes. When the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your blood pressure and pulse rate will display on the screen. If you need to stop the measurement at any time, simply press the on/off button and the monitor will immediately deflate. And remember, always consult your physician for specific information about your blood pressure.

The HEM 780 is as advertised. It's primary use as a BP monitor is easy and the screen's large presentation is easily read. However, some other functions such as changing the date, require the instructions so don't lose them. There is nothing intuitive about changing the date. All and all, this seems to be a very good monitor.

The monitor is very easy to use and I like the guest and memory features. The only drawback to this product is that I feel I can never get the cuff tight enough around my arm. I wish it had a better closure feature. Overall, I am very happy with this monitor.

This is an excellent product. I have had an inferior monitor for years now and finally decided to purchase this one. I could not be more pleased. It is easy, accurate and has that added feature of a memory bank. Over the Thanksgiving holiday all my family members had to use it to check their blood pressures. Everyone was very impressed with the unit.

I had compared the prices on this monitor with a local store and the price through Amazon was about half of what I would have paid locally. I strongly recommend the purchase of this monitor.

I bought this monitor for my father and my husband, who have high blood pressure. It works well, it's easy to program (memory and average measurements) and it does it all after pushing only one button. The fact that it inflates automatically is also convenient. Big display (numbers) and it also alerts you if your pressure that time is higher than recommended, so you don't have to look up the 'healty numbers' every time you measure. Both husband and father love it. Price was great too, for an instrument this modern and with so many features.

I always value Omron's productions and this monitor kept my beliefs ; )
This monitor is really professional and yet easy to use for home. The quality of the body, the screen, the pouch and also cuff is awesome. I bought this for my mother and she is really so happy with it and she even stated that it much outperformed all the other monitors she previously had. I got this monitor for a steal price from Amazon and you should really not miss that. It used to sell ll over the Internet and in stores for around $130 and it considered to be the top of the line monitor from Omron except for the computer connection functionality available on the higher priced model. We are all Mac users at home and my mother even won't take advantage of the PC software so I decided to settle with this model.. A great buy and Thanks Amazon..
