Equipped with the information you have learned, you will be a valuable member of the team caring for your child.
Summarizing many of the most common types of surgery a child of any age faces, you are given information you need to make valuable decisions. Information on how to keep yourself, as well as your child, calm when entering the medical environment will better prepare the entire family. "A Guide For Parents" 4 stars
Dr. Ketch walks the reader through the basics of preparing for surgery. He explains pre-operative procedures and operative procedures. He briefly touches on post-operative home care.
Perhaps the most important part of the book is the list of helpful websites and the glossary. A parent can read this straight through or use it as a reference tool. A few diagrams are used to explain common disorders.
If your child must have surgery, educate yourself with Will it Hurt?. It will make your healthcare experience more understandable and more comfortable for you and your child.
