From the supplier: The economic forecasting record of the UK Treasury for growth and inflation from 1971 to 1996 was examined. The relationship between errors in gross domestic product (GDP) and retail price index (RPI) was also taken into consideration. Statistics show that GDP and RPI forecasts during the period were generally rational and unbiased but not efficient. It was also found that errors in inflation forecasts had considerable effects on both GDP and RPI errors.
